FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Despite their age, the restored siphons are fully usable in everyday life – even in catering environments. They certainly don't need to be handled with kid gloves.

All soda siphons are designed for standard 8g unthreaded CO2 carbon dioxide gas cartridges. These can be ordered directly from us or from many online shops. Please do not use the iSi company's capsules – they only fit iSi devices.  Unless you obtain the cartridges from us, please ensure you purchase CO2 cartridges and not N2 nitrogen capsules, such as those used for whipping cream.

The Sparklets London 1930 and Sparklets New York 1930 soda siphons have a non-return valve, meaning the CO2 cartridge can be removed during operation. The models from the 1920s, which are about 10 years older, do not yet have a non-return valve; the cartridge holder must be left on the soda siphon during operation.

The restored soda siphons naturally show the small marks left by 80-100 years of history. As a result, each siphon has its own individual character and patina. The images on our website and in the online shop are therefore examples.

For maintenance, simply keep the siphon dry after emptying. The restored Sparklets and Heimsyphon siphons are Not dishwasher safe.

The technology used is purely mechanical and basically very simple. Therefore, the seltzer bottles themselves do not require maintenance. However, depending on the water hardness, limescale deposits can sometimes form, which can impair the function. We remove these if you send us the siphon head.

The filled seltzer bottle is under pressure. This poses no danger with normal handling. Nevertheless, the device should be kept away from children.

The Siphon Manufaktur offers a range of useful spare parts should anything break or go missing. You can find these in our shop. If the part you need is not listed, please contact us. We'll gladly help.

The price difference reflects the rarity and age of the seltzer bottles. Most commonly, when searching for soda siphons, we encounter examples from New York from the 1930s, London models are rarer, and siphons from Berlin and Paris are particularly scarce.

Order the soda cartridges from us and pay approximately 50 cents per refill. The technology used is purely mechanical and fundamentally very simple. Therefore, maintenance and repair costs will be negligible or low, even after several years of use.
