In the 1930s, the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building were reminiscent of the grandeur and economic might of the years before the Great Depression. Thanks to President Roosevelt's “New Deal” and New York Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia, the USA embarked on a path that would swiftly see the country reclaim its economic supremacy.
The New York branch of Sparklets Ltd. weathered the 1930s well thanks to the launch of the D-Type and managed to increase its market share. The new model featured a removable cartridge holder and set new visual standards with its chrome-plated head. The patented D-Type was a resounding success and sold in large numbers.
Each of our restored soda siphons is an original from the 1920s. These were manufactured to very high standards of durability and craftsmanship. All replacement parts used by us are either original or were specially manufactured by us for this purpose. This ensures that the original condition is preserved as far as possible. Despite their age, the restored siphons can also be used in everyday life – they don't need to be handled with kid gloves.
This soda siphon is the so-called D-Type. It is a technical further development of the C-Type model from the 1920s. New is the non-return valve, which allows the cartridge holder to be removed during operation. The mouth-blown glass bottle with more corrosion-resistant wire mesh was manufactured in Czechoslovakia between 1930 and 1940.
The original holder is only present on around a third of all seltzer bottles. If the original holder is lost, the delivery includes a metal holder specially manufactured for us, designed in a similar style to the original holders.
